And it is a fascinating story. That's the story I want to tell. I'm hoping you'll come away from this book with a much deeper under- standing of how much of what it means to be a Catholic Christian comes from Africa.
Our Roman liturgy actually developed in North Africa. Some of our most important theological ideas developed in Egypt. And then there's the fascinating case of Ethiopia, a glorious Christian civilization that was cut off from much of the Christian world for centuries and preserved ancient practices and ideas that Western Christians are only beginning to rediscover.
