Let’s be clear, Emperor Menelik more than any other leaders of Africa stopped colonialism that was on steroid... on its track... to a crawl. After centuries of invasion and slavery, our freedom in the diaspora was first centered on the Fighting Maroons of Jamaica who dominated the early war against slavery after establishing a pan African warrior community in the mountains of Jamaica in the 18th century. Here, these communed, assessed and activated their plan for war against slavery against the Spaniards and British. Though they were weakened by the late 18th century after being the major target, they had already created the basic pan African plan with a modern military skills-set that was quickly expanded for war against colonial slavery across the diaspora, especially into Ayiti to free African people.
