Segun Adewale was born to the family of Joseph Adedeji Adewale a railway station master in 1955. He attended Alaafia Institute Ibadan, Premier College Yaba, Lagos. After leaving school he joined Chief S.L Atolagbe band he later moved to M.A Jayesimi Band in Ibadan where he trained as professional musician. Through the inspiration he had from I.K Dairo Segun Adewale formed his own band with Dayo Kujore and in 1973 the Superstar International came out with the chart buster Ko Gbodo Pa Finafina after the release of the record the band collapsed. 

He later joined General Prince Adekunle as a singer and composer, the band toured Britain in 1976 this experience fired Segun Adewale’s ambition and with the little problem their leader had with their boss, Segun and Shina formed the band named Shina Adewale and the SuperstarsInternational . The Band lasted for three years with the release of 9 LPs.

In 1980 Segun formed his own band having split with Shina Peters under the management of Mr M.O Kazzim. He released various records including Ope Ye Baba, Boomerang, Ase, Play for me. 

Segun Created a style of his own which he called Yo- Pop he described it as a kick and start music. Segun one of the best composer around still plays music , Some of Segun Adewale’s works are :
