LAMLAM, TIMBUKTU & THE TRIBE OF ASHER

LAMLAM, TIMBUKTU & THE TRIBE OF ASHER

LAMLAM = 12th century Hebrew Kingdom, 200 miles east of Timbuktu…

According to Al-Edrisi the land hereabout (Lamlem) was peopled by Jews…

Al-Idrisi, was a Muslim Arab geographer and cartographer who served in the court of King Roger II at Palermo, Sicily…

He created the Tabula Rogeriana, one of the most advanced medieval world maps…

“In the whole land of Lam-lam there are but two small cities, or as it were villages, and those are Malel and Dau, situated at the distance of four days’ journey from each other. Their inhabitants, as people of those parts relate, are JEWS”

According to Ptolemy, the ancient name for Timbuktu in biblical times was called THAMONDACANA…

“THAMONDACANA (Oaμovdákava, § 28), one of his towns on the Niger, coincides with Timbuktu”

SOURCE;

(William Smith, Dictionary of Greek and Roman Biography and Mythology Volume 2; 1870)

This name is Hebrew in ancient origin…

The two cognates of THAMONDACANA are Hammon and Kanah…

Hammon = "warm springs"

1. a town in Asher, apparently not far from Zidon-rabbah

2. a town in Naphtali allotted to the Levites; also called 'Hammath' and 'Hammoth-dor'

1. a town marking the boundary of Asher

Hammon and Kanah; two towns in Asher…

“And the fifth lot came out for the tribe of the children of Asher according to their families.” — Joshua 19:24

And their border was…

“Hebron, and Rehob, and HAMMON, and KANAH, even unto great Zidon;” — Joshua 19:28

So, THAMONDACANA means, “The place of warm springs and reeds”

Why did they call it that?

On the edge of the Sahara Desert lies one of the world’s most productive wetlands…

The Inland Delta of the Niger River in Mali is a vast expanse of lakes, channels, and marshes…

The Niger River divides into countless channels and forms the largest wetland in Western Africa…

This delta floods seasonally from September to December, as rainfall from the river’s headwaters in the Guinea Highlands reaches the delta’s vast flat floodplain…

The southern part of the delta is low-lying floodplain with expanses of wetland grasses and reeds…

This is THAMONDACANA, “The place of warm springs and reeds”

This city was founded by the tribe of the children of Asher…
