A point that I raise often is that in trying to blackwash the history of others, we not only overlook our own history but we continue the glorification of Europe. Cleopatra VII came from a family of Greek colonizers who seized control in Egypt. She also maintained close political ties with Rome, which including having relationships with Julius Caesar and Mark Antony.

A point that I raise often is that in trying to blackwash the history of others, we not only overlook our own history but we continue the glorification of Europe. Cleopatra VII came from a family of Greek colonizers who seized control in Egypt. The reason why she's so well-known in the West is because of her European connection, but she's far from being the most remarkable queen in Egyptian history or African history. We need to stop this glorification of Eurocentric historical narratives and truly embrace our own history.
